South Melbourne have broken new ground in Australian football, defeating Melbourne Victory 4-3 on penalties to become the first club from outside the A-League to lift the Australia Cup.

Caboolture SFC face one of their biggest matches of the season so far on Saturday evening, welcoming Ipswich FC to the Moreton Bay Central Sports Complex in a clash with significant implications for the playoff race.

Caboolture FC left it late on Saturday night, overcoming a stubborn Capalaba Bulldogs side 2-1 to claim an important three points and strengthen their position inside the top four. Coming into the match, the Snakes were widely expected to defeat a Capalaba team sitting in the relegation zone and struggling for form. While the result ultimately went to plan, the visitors made Caboolture work much harder than many would have anticipated.
