AIHL Week 11 Power Rankings

James Lane

1. Melbourne Ice (Last Week: 1)

No signs of slowing down. A convincing 6-3 win over the Northstars followed by a 10-4 rout of the Rhinos keeps the Ice firmly on top.

2. Perth Thunder (Last Week: 4)

The Thunder make a deserved jump after a big weekend. Saturday’s 11-2 blowout of the Lightning made headlines, but the gritty OT win on Sunday showed they can grind out results too. Perth’s back in the mix for a top-two finish.

3. Brisbane Lightning (Last Week: 2)

A reality check for the Lightning, but not panic stations. Saturday’s heavy loss to Perth stung, but they responded well and nearly pinched the rematch in overtime. They drop a spot with Perth surging, but remain firmly in the upper tier, with Saturday looking more like a blip than any serious indication of form.

4. Newcastle Northstars (Last Week: 3)

Two losses, but context matters. Falling to the Ice is no surprise, and the Brave edged them in a tight one. Newcastle slide a little with others around them winning, but they’re still right in the mid-table scrap.

5. Melbourne Mustangs (Last Week: 5)

The Mustangs stay fifth, only because it's hard to judge how much of their performance was down to them, and how much to Adelaide.

6. Canberra Brave (Last Week: 6)

The Brave keep themselves in the thick of the playoff battle with a pair of hard-earned wins. They overturned an early deficit against the Rhinos and edged the Northstars in a key result. A good weekend, but the real tests lie ahead.

7. Adelaide Adrenaline (Last Week: 7)

Struggled to contain the Mustangs over the weekend. Adelaide’s made progress this season, but they weren’t on the same level this time around.

8. Central Coast Rhinos (Last Week: 8)

Another tough weekend, this time at the hands of Canberra and Melbourne. The Rhinos remain in rebuild mode, with little relief in sight.
