Australia notched a second win to start the WBC, handling Czechia to the comfortable tune of 5-1. The result was built on a dominant pitching display that has allowed a mere 7 hits so far in the tournament.

This was always going to be a necessary game for Australia, with points against Czechia being absolutely vital if the team hope to progress from the pool. After downing Chinese Taipei in the opener, this win sets Australia in good stead heading into their remaining two matches.

Next up is world champion Japan, who are widely expected to comfortably finish top of the pool. After that is what could very well be a straight shootout for second, against a Korea side that also opened their campaign with a win.
