Tennis — Schoolkate claims first Challenger title of 2026
Tristan Schoolkate has won the Guangzhou Challenger, securing his first title of the 2026 season. The Australian defeated his final opponent in China to cap a strong tournament and continue his progress up the rankings. For Schoolkate, the victory represents another significant step in a season in which he has increasingly established himself as one of Australia's emerging men's players.

Football — Junior Matildas prepare for crucial World Cup clash
The CommBank Junior Matildas were preparing for their second group match at the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in Morocco, with Mexico their opponent. Australia entered the match following their opening-game defeat to Spain and therefore faced a crucial contest in their attempt to progress from the group. Ultimately it was another defeat, with a lone first-half strike enough for Mexico.
Cricket — Test decider takes centre stage
The Australian men's cricket team spent Monday preparing for the decisive third Test against South Africa at Newlands. Australia confirmed that Nic Maddinson would leave the touring squad after his disappointing start to the series, while selectors were considering further changes before the final XI is named.
