Canberra Raiders Cup Round 13 Wrap

Mikayla Kerin

Welcome to Round 13 of the Canberra Raiders Cup, which was a week of high scores and must-see games.

Bulls Notch Back-to-Back Wins

The Bulls defeated the Magpies thirty six points to eighteen in Gungahlin to start off Saturday’s games.

Bulls centre Kane Allan was the star of the show on his return to the side, scoring two tries as well as setting up three more.

The Magpies proved undisciplined in both defence and attack, which led to Jordan Eti being sent to the sin bin during the second half for dragging a Bulls player to the ground.

This win sees the Bulls sitting in fifth position, with five wins and six losses so far.

Bushies Win in Cross-Town Clash

The Sharks hosted the Bushies in Bruce for a cross-town clash.

However, it was the Bushies who edged the win, thirty points to twenty eight.

The star for this match was Bushies winger Jayden Pollard, who crossed over for his second try in the dying minutes to save the Bushies.

However, for the Sharks, their finals campaign is at risk with the side needing to win their next two games to even consider being in top four contention

Roos win in Blinder

The Roos continued their winning ways with an absolute blinder of a match against the Rams, putting on fifty eight points and conceding just eight at Phillip.

The entire team were looking strong, however both Kain Anderson and Jesse Dent were standouts, scoring a hat trick and double respectively.

Despite this devastating loss, the Rams remain in fourth, though whether they will remain there is increasingly a concern.

Sunday Afternoon Showdown

For our Sunday clash, we had the Blues and Warriors face off at Raiders Belconnen.

The Warriors had the attack nailed, particularly their returning captain/coach Ryan Mcqueen, who set up three first half tries before scoring one on his own in the second half.

However, the Blues made themselves known after returning from their Round 12 bye as they secured a twelve point win away from home thirty four points to twenty two.

Ladder Update:

  1. Queanbeyan Roos

  2. Queanbeyan Blues

  3. West Belco Warriors

  4. Woden Rams

  5. Gunghalin Bulls

  6. Tuggeranong Bushies

  7. Belco Sharks

  8. Goulburn Bulldogs

  9. Yass Magpies

Looking into Round 14:

  • We have the Bushies facing off at home against the Warriors with the away side looking to bounce back after their loss against the Blues

  • The Bulls will face off against the Blues in Gunghalin with the Blues hoping for five straight wins

  • We will welcome back the Bulldogs from their bye with Sharks hosting them at Bruce with both sides desperate for a win

  • The Rams will host the Magpies at Phillip with the home side looking to bounce back after their hard loss against the Roos

  • The Roos have a well-deserved and well-earnt bye in Round 14 and we look forward to see the top-of-the-table side face off against the Bushies in Round 15
