Canberra Raiders Cup Round 17 Wrap

Mikayla Kerin

Welcome to the Wrap, as we report on an exciting second last round of the regular Canberra Raiders Cup.

Match of the Round - Rams Win

In our match of the Round, we had the Rams face off against the Blues at Phillip.

The Rams were looking to keep their finals hope alive, and they did exactly that with a strong attack, particularly from their backs.

They upset the apple cart with a four-point win over the away side, twenty-four points to twenty.

With this, the Blues’ minor premiership hopes are slipping with only one game left of the regular season.

Bushies Win Ninth Straight

The Bushies hosted the Bulldogs at Greenway and had the pressure on them, looking for their ninth straight win: and they got it.

The Bushies' fourteen-point win wouldn’t have been possible without their wingers Jayden Pollard and Lachie Davis, both of whom have had a great 2025 season.

This is the Bulldogs' second straight loss, and they will look to bounce back next week for their final game of the season.

Sharks Snatch Much-Needed Win

The Sharks have snapped the Magpies' winning streak with a much-needed ten-point win in Belconnen.

Sharks fullback Jacob Piper was the star player with scoring two tries himself and having an overall dominant performance from the side.

The Magpies now slip into last position and are relying on the last round of the season, as well as the rest of this weekend’s games, to get out of that position.

Roos’ Dominant Push

The Roos are making a late push for the minor premiership after a dominant win, forty points to twenty-four against the Warriors.

It was a typically strong Roos’ performance, as second row veteran Josh Ayers went over for two tries and centre Lucas Thomson converted six out of seven.

This was the Warriors' fourth loss from five games, and they were reduced to twelve men for the majority of the game.

Ladder Update:

Queanbeyan Roos: 22 points

Queanbeyan Blues: 20 points

Tuggeranong Bushies: 18 points

West Belco Warriors: 17 points

Woden Valley Rams: 15 points

Belco Sharks: 11 points

Gungahlin Bulls: 10 points

Goulburn Bulldogs: 9 points

Yass Magpies: 6 points

Looking into our last round of the season:

  • The Bulls come back from their Round 17 bye and host the Roos at Gungahlin, where the Roos will look to secure the minor premiership

  • The Rams will host the Bulldogs, where the Bulldogs will look to bounce back to end their season on a high note, while the Rams will look to make a push for the top four

  • The Magpies will host the Blues at Walker Park, where the Blues will look to bounce back after three consecutive losses

  • The Warriors will host the Sharks in a Belconnen derby at Raiders Belconnen, where the Warriors will play to retain their top-four position

  • The Bushies will have the bye, and we should see them in the finals statistically; however, anything can happen
