Thunderbirds vs Vixens
Whilst this game was incredibly intense and close between the Thunderbirds and the Vixens, it was eventually the Vixens that came out on top. This being the semi-finals, it makes sense for the teams to be fighting as hard as they possibly can to get the win. The Vixens took the win with only a 2-point difference this week, the final score being 58-56, as they progress to the Preliminary Finals! Kiera Austin, the Vixen’s Goal Attack, Goal Shooter and Wing Attack was declared the player of the match for this game. After the game, Emily Beaton interviewed Austin, asking her how she felt after the game’s conclusion, especially when she gained redemption over her side of the court, in such a close and intense game. She was out of breath, exhausted- stating that she felt “Amazing.” She continued, stating her respect for the Thunderbirds. “Massive credit to the Thunderbirds, and the crowd that they have here, they’re incredible. They’re a great team with a great family around them.” The player of the match was incredibly well-deserved to Kiera Austin, as she scored all five of her super shots, 9 out of 13 of her normal goals, as well as scoring 20 goal assists throughout the entire match. The Vixens really pulled through this week, giving it their all.
Fever vs Swifts
The Fever's winning streak stretches even longer, absolutely dominating their game against the Swifts. This game was an absolutely massive loss for the Swifts, with a 32 point difference between them, the final score being 77-45. The Fever is now locked in to a place in the Grand Final, and the Swifts go to the Preliminary Finals to face the Vixens in a second chance. The player of the match of this game was Alice Teague-Neeld, the Fever’s Wing Attack and Goal Attack. She was asked how she thinks she went in the game in an interview with Stacey-Francis Bayman, and answered with: “I think individually I had a good game, but I think overall to put 77 in a major Semi Final and then 45 is just huge by the team!” It was clear that Alice was impressed with her team, and proud of the effort they all put in to beat the Swifts- a team that previously was even beating them on the ladder just a few weeks ago! Recognised for the consistent effort that Alice has been putting in, she was revealed to be an invitee to the Origin Diamonds for 2026, and she sounds very excited about it, saying that she is “Definitely stoked with that! Obviously, it's been a dream of mine!” Alice is proving herself to be quite an inspirational player, making her name known as player of the match in quite a few games this season. The Fever as a whole has proven themselves to be a formidable team to be up against, and have now fully pushed themselves into the Grand Final!
