Round 19 delivered a tightening of the title race and a reality check for the league leaders, as Auckland FC cut the gap to Newcastle Jets while the Jets’ remarkable winning streak finally came to an end. Elsewhere, Western Sydney produced an attacking statement, and Sydney FC kept their push toward the top alive with a valuable away win.

Victory and Adelaide Share Spoils in Rivalry Clash

Melbourne Victory and Adelaide United played out a 1-1 draw in the Original Rivalry at AAMI Park. Victory remain firmly inside the top six, while Adelaide stay fourth on the ladder and are now three games unbeaten after securing a solid away point.

Auckland Cruise Past City to Close Gap

Auckland FC returned to winning ways with a dominant 3-0 victory over Melbourne City. The result moves them back to within two points of league leaders Newcastle Jets. While Auckland continue to impress in continental competition, City’s domestic struggles deepened with their seventh defeat of the season, leaving them languishing in ninth place.

Mariners Halt Jets’ Winning Streak

Central Coast Mariners extended their unbeaten run to six games after holding Newcastle Jets to a 0-0 draw. The stalemate also brought an end to the Jets’ incredible eight-game winning streak, with the league leaders unable to find a breakthrough against a resolute Mariners defence.

Roar and Glory Share Points

Brisbane Roar and Perth Glory played out a 1-1 draw. The result leaves Brisbane without a win in six matches and sitting eighth, two points outside the top six. Perth remain in 10th position, now four points adrift of the finals places.

Wanderers Smash Bulls

Western Sydney Wanderers produced an emphatic 4-0 win over Macarthur Bulls. The result ends a five-match winless run for the Wanderers and lifts morale, while Macarthur remain sixth but are now without a win in four games.

Sydney Edge Phoenix in Tight Contest

Sydney FC moved to within five points of top spot with a narrow 1-0 win over Wellington Phoenix. The away victory keeps Sydney firmly in the hunt as the race at the top continues to tighten.
