Round 9 of the Isuzu UTE A-League produced several significant shifts across the ladder, with Auckland FC reclaiming top spot and Melbourne Victory continuing their resurgence. Elsewhere, Newcastle Jets strengthened their push for the top six while Adelaide United finally snapped a difficult run of form.

Auckland Back on Top

Auckland FC returned to the top of the ladder with a 2-0 win over Western Sydney Wanderers at CommBank Stadium. The result leaves the Wanderers struggling in attack, having now gone three games without scoring a goal, while Auckland continue to set the pace near the summit.

Jets Stun Sydney

Newcastle Jets boosted their finals hopes with a strong 2-0 victory over Sydney FC. The result lifts the Jets into the top six after an impressive display against one of the league’s early frontrunners.

Victory Claim Dramatic Derby Win

Melbourne Victory made it back-to-back wins with a dramatic 1-0 triumph over Melbourne City in the Melbourne Derby. Despite the late defeat, City remain in fourth position at the end of Round 9, while Victory’s form is beginning to show signs of improvement.

Bulls Hold Off Roar

Macarthur Bulls secured an important 2-1 victory over Brisbane Roar thanks to a brace of penalties from Harrison Sawyer. The win was much needed for the Bulls, who had entered the clash searching for a response.

Adelaide End Losing Streak

Adelaide United returned to winning ways with a narrow 1-0 win over Perth Glory. The victory ends a run of three straight defeats and provides a welcome boost for Airton Andrioli’s side.

Phoenix Defeat Mariners

Wellington Phoenix claimed a 3-1 win over Central Coast Mariners to round out the weekend’s action. The result gives the Phoenix valuable points as they look to climb away from the lower reaches of the ladder.
