Round 25 of the A-League has delivered the season’s defining moment, with Newcastle Jets officially crowned Premiers after results elsewhere went their way. With one round remaining, the finals picture has largely fallen into place, while the battle for positions inside the top six continues to simmer.

Jets Seal Premiership in Dramatic Fashion

Newcastle Jets secured the Premiers Plate following a dramatic 2-2 draw with Melbourne Victory. Eli Adams’ late equaliser proved decisive, ensuring the Jets did enough to finish on top. The result also confirmed Melbourne Victory’s place in the Finals Series, marking their 15th finals appearance.

Auckland Slip as Title Race Ends

Auckland FC’s hopes of lifting the Premiers Plate ended with a 1-0 loss to Central Coast Mariners. The defeat handed the title to Newcastle, leaving Auckland to settle for second heading into the final round.

City Confirm Finals Spot

Melbourne City locked in their place in the Finals Series with a 3-2 win over Brisbane Roar. A double from Marcus Younis proved crucial, while Brisbane’s struggles continued, with just one win in four months leaving them second-last on the ladder.

Adelaide Eye Second Place

Adelaide United kept their push for second alive with a 3-1 victory over Macarthur Bulls, inspired by a double from Anselmo de Moraes. With one game remaining, Adelaide now have a chance to secure a top-two finish.

Sydney Frustrated but Unbeaten

Sydney FC were held to a 0-0 draw by Perth Glory, a result that effectively ends their chances of finishing second. However, they remain unbeaten since Patrick Kisnorbo took charge and will head into finals in solid form.

Phoenix End on High, Wanderers Bottom Out

Wellington Phoenix closed out their home campaign with a 2-1 win over Western Sydney Wanderers. The result officially condemns the Wanderers to their first-ever Wooden Spoon, capping a difficult season for the club.
