Caboolture emerged from a fiery and dramatic contest on Saturday evening with a crucial 5-3 victory over Holland Park Hawks, strengthening their hold on a top-four position after one of the wildest matches of the season so far.

The Snakes wasted little time making an impact, striking first in the 11th minute. Leo Robinson burst rapidly down the wing and delivered a dangerous cross into the box, where a Holland Park defender inadvertently headed the ball into his own net to hand Caboolture an early lead.

The hosts responded in the 19th minute after a messy scramble inside the penalty area eventually ended with the ball in the back of the net, levelling the match at 1-1.

The game remained tense and competitive through the middle stages of the first half, but Caboolture regained the advantage in the 31st minute. Another cross caused problems for Holland Park, and this time Ethan Docherty intentionally powered home a header to restore the Snakes’ lead at 2-1 heading into halftime.

Caboolture came out of the break with clear intent and quickly took control. Orlando Lopez produced a brilliant individual run and finish to extend the lead before striking again with a powerful long-range effort, putting the Snakes 4-1 ahead by the 63rd minute.

At that stage, the match appeared over. But Holland Park refused to disappear quietly. Just three minutes later, they pulled one back to make it 4-2 and inject life back into the contest.

The tension continued to rise, boiling over in the 72nd minute when tempers flared and both sides were reduced to ten men. A Holland Park player was sent off following a shove, while Ethan Docherty also saw red for kicking the ball away in the aftermath.

Ten minutes later, Holland Park struck again with a long, low effort that cut the deficit to 4-3 and set up a nervy finish. Yellow cards continued to flow in a heated closing period as the Hawks pushed for an equaliser, but Caboolture ultimately had the final say. Four minutes into stoppage time, Orlando Lopez completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot, calmly converting to seal a chaotic but crucial 5-3 victory.

The result lifts the Snakes to 17 points and keeps them firmly inside the top four, beginning to build a small but valuable buffer in the playoff positions.

Elsewhere in the league, Redlands United rescued a point against Brisbane Strikers with a 91st-minute equaliser in a 1-1 draw. Broadbeach United continued their unbeaten run with a commanding 3-0 victory over Sunshine Coast Wanderers, while Robina City defeated North Star 3-1.
